And before we delve into the spring, let's take a look back at our final winner from the winter. Duxbury High girls hockey player Lucia Rose was our final athlete of the week from the winter. The sophom*ore collected over 1,300 votes to earn the honor. Rose scored her first career varsity goal in a 4-0 win over Falmouth in the Division 2 state championship.
Here's our first batch of boys lacrosse players of the week.
Jackson Henehan, Sr., Thayer Academy: Henehan went 22-for-23 on faceoffs as the Tigers defeated Austin Prep, 19-3.
Jack Kavaleski, Sr., Middleboro: Kavaleski had big point totals in wins over New Bedford (5 goals, 2 assists), Hull (4 goals, 2 assists) and Dighton-Rehoboth (6 goals, assist).
Hunter Grafton + Jonny Halpin, Abington: Grafton and Halpin both reached career milestones in a 16-3 win over East Bridgewater. Grafton tallied his 300th career point with a 10-point day (5 goals, 5 assists). He's believed to be the first player in program history to reach the milestone. Halpin tallied his 200th career point. In a win over Mashpee, Halpin had a hat trick while Grafton had 12 points (4 goals, 8 assists), including his 200th career goal.
Lucas Gangi, Fr., Oliver Ames: The rookie had four goals an assist in a 10-2 win over Taunton.
Brendan Cooper, Sr., Southeastern: Cooper had five goals in an 8-7 loss against South Shore Tech.
Brandon Perry + Brenden Kanya, Pembroke: Both Titans had four-goal showings in a 14-6 win over Archbishop Williams.
Owen Hofford, Jr., Scituate: Hofford scored four goals in a 10-6 win over Silver Lake.
Liam Appleton, Sr., Cohasset: Appleton had three goals and three assists in Cohasset's 13-6 win over Barnstable.
Logan DelPonte, Sr., Hopkinton: DelPonte scored three times for the Hillers on Friday in a 7-6 win over Ashland.
Levin Gagnon, Soph., Natick: Gagnon poured in a hat trick to help the Redhawks prevail in their opener Tuesday, 10-5 over Waltham.
Henry Goldberg, Sr., Framingham: The captain was everywhere Saturday with seven goals and four assists in a 17-2 win over Newton South.
Jack Gulachenski, Sr., Algonquin: Gulachenski put away a hat trick with three assists for the Titans in a 17-1 win over Leominster. A day earlier, he had a hat trick in a 10-6 win over Wachusett.
Drew Hansen, Sr., Franklin: Hansen poured in four goals with an assist for the Panthers in a 20-0 win over Stoughton. Hansen contributed six assists and two goals in a 15-0 win over Attleboro to start the year.
Hayden Kearney, Sr., AMSA: Kearney pumped in four goals, as the Eagles defeated St. Bernard's 10-4 on Tuesday. AMSA's Luc Masse added two goals and two assist, while Andre McCabe scored twice. Tavin Hirsh had a goal and two assists for the Eagles (2-0).
Jackson Mastroianni, Sr., Blackstone Valley Tech: He dished out four assists with two goals, as the Beavers pulled away from Assabet, 20-0, on Wednesday. A day earlier, Mastroianni pumped in four goals with one assist for the Beavers in a 12-0 win over Tri-County.
James Nolan, Soph., Wellesley: Nolan put away six goals for the Raiders (1-0) on Friday, five in the fourth quarter, in an 11-7 win over Natick. Wellesley goalie Owen Hamburger saved 12 shots.
Wyatt Pastore, Sr., Dover-Sherborn: The captain scored five goals with two assists in a 13-3 victory for the Raiders over Bellingham on Monday.
Justin Pillard, Soph., Medway: Pillard put away five goals with one assist Monday in a 10-6 win over Dedham.
Kaeden Ryan, Fr., Lincoln-Sudbury: Ryan scored the overtime winner for the Warriors in a thrilling 9-8 victory over rival Concord-Carlisle. He also had three assists in an 11-8 win over Needham.
Dylan Sullivan, Sr., Tri-County: Sullivan netted the overtime winner among his four goals for the Cougars and also won 15-of-17 faceoffs in an 8-7 overtime win over Blue Hills.
